Tropical Ocean-Global Atmosphere (TOGA)
Ein von folgenden Organisationen gemeinsam getragenes Forschungsprogramm: the United Nations World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU), the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), and the ICSU Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR). TOGA hat vier Hauptziele:
- Sammeln und Katalogisieren von Beobachtungen über Atmosphäre und Ozean in den Tropen
- Bewertung der Entwicklung des Systems tropischer Ozean/Atmosphäre in Echtzeit
- Unterstützung für die Entwicklung von kurzzeitigen Klimavorhersagemodellen für die Tropen
- Erforschung des Einflusses des Systems tropischer Ozean/Atmosphäre auf das Klima in höheren Breiten.
